{"id":22,"date":"2014-11-23T11:14:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-23T11:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pellwallhelp.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/23\/blood-soil-a-cocktail\/"},"modified":"2014-11-23T11:14:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-23T11:14:00","slug":"blood-soil-a-cocktail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pellwallhelp.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/23\/blood-soil-a-cocktail\/","title":{"rendered":"Blood &#038; Soil: a cocktail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And now for something completely different:<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">It\u2019s an experiment I&#8217;ve been meaning to do for a while: a martini-style drink using a cocktail beetroot as garnish. &nbsp;I wanted the liquid to be essentially clear, so that as you drink it, you could see the colour bleeding out&nbsp;of the beetroot. &nbsp;At the same time the ingredients have to work with the earthy, sweet quality of the garnish, so that they fit together as a whole.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">Here\u2019s what I came up with:<\/p>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-ePe676TCtHg\/VHGwxHvMg3I\/AAAAAAAAAwg\/-Y_cLFIdxCE\/s1600\/Blood-and-Soil-Cocktail.jpg\" style=\"clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-ePe676TCtHg\/VHGwxHvMg3I\/AAAAAAAAAwg\/-Y_cLFIdxCE\/s1600\/Blood-and-Soil-Cocktail.jpg\" height=\"320\" width=\"194\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Blood and Soil<br \/>A Cocktail for the Adventurous<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">First prepare the glass with half a very small baby beetroot, speared on a cocktail stick and placed so that the cut edge rests against the glass <span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">(for the sake of the photograph I used a glass at room temperature, but otherwise I\u2019d prefer a frozen glass)<\/span>.
